How critical is your inner voice?
Does it give you constructive feedback or is it out right mean? When it is mean, we sometimes don’t even hear the voice, we just feel bad…
Before I learnt how to reprogramme my inner voice, looking at myself in a mirror would trigger critical thoughts and a wave of bad feelings. As I worked to change this, it was quite a shock to find that I very, very seldom said anything good to myself.
When did you last praise yourself?
Or enjoy feeling good about yourself?
Here’s a BIG tip from one of my trainers on changing how your inner voice talks to you. When you feel you’ve messed up or not been good enough, ask yourself
‘what would I like to do differently next time?’
Not only do you get to think constructively about your experience, this also stops your inner voice from beating you up for ‘failing’. And it stops you from vowing to never put yourself in a situation like that again. This kind of subconscious vow blocks you from personally growing stronger and can also block your career or business development because it stops you taking action.
