What kind of future do you dream of?

What kind of future do you dream of? Is it a future for yourself and your family, or does it include what you can do for others in your community, or even wider afield?

I think we all start with a dream for ourselves and those we love, and that then we can look outside our immediate circle as we are also part of larger communities.

Every time you buy something you contribute to someone’s income, so you are contributing whether you’re aware of doing so or not. However, if you want a sense of making a difference, an impact as it is now called, or as is common in the USA, leaving a legacy, you need a guiding sense of purpose.

Often it is the desire to do something that gives you a sense of fulfillment through solving a problem or providing a service that is called your purpose. What is forgotten is that this action is also an expression of who you are as a person and the values that motivate you.

Your purpose doesn’t have to be big and bold, it can feel quite small and not publicly noticeable, such as providing a nurturing environment for your family. On the other extreme are the people with very public contributions such as the founder of the now global charity, Gift of the Givers. Each person has their own place on that spectrum, and the only thing that matters is that you are fulfilling your purpose and living at your full potential.

If you’ve lost your sense of purpose in the nitty gritty of life, call me for a gift brainstorming session.
