What mountain are you climbing?

On my last weekend mountain walk there was a strong cold wind blowing. If I hadn’t needed to walk off some frustration (my washing machine died on me that morning and I couldn’t get my clothes out!) I’d have canceled the walk.

As we got higher up the slope I noticed the wind level on the ground dropped to hardly being noticeable. It was blowing loudly in the tops of the trees, but not on the ground. The result was a very pleasant walk although cold again when we got down to the lower level, but by then I had walked myself warm so it didn’t bother me.

I found myself musing on whether there is a life lesson in that: the solution to feeling uncomfortable when trying something new is counterintuitive – do more of it, not less! Go further up the mountain!

This was my experience with online workshops. The first online course I attended was a big challenge because I hated being on camera. By the end of the 8 weeks I was over myself and running my own online workshops! Definitely an example of the adverse conditions diminishing higher up the mountain. My current challenge is doing Facebook lives. I’m ok with recording videos but I need to climb a bit higher to get comfortable with going live as I speak.

What mountains have you climbed and found the going easier as you got further up?
Or if your inner voice is telling you to ‘go home’ rather than climb higher, call me for some support!

  1. Marion… Very thankful, blessed for the advice and counciling you gave me over the years. You went the extra mile, keeping me informed with information that was of interest or for my benefit. And YES it has helped me, given me strength to climb my mountain, gave me direction when it was foggy and I felt lost. I will forever be grateful and thankful that I had you as my guide. Heather
