Your hobby ups your productivity

Did you do something fun on the weekend? Something that took your mind off everything else and made you feel mentally and possibly physically refreshed?

Prioritising your hobby time keeps burnout at bay, and stimulates your creativity and productivity. Doing something that takes your mind off the things that stress you improves your mental, emotional, and physical well-being and will keep you happier and healthier than those who don’t have a hobby.

On weekends I play croquet, and walk on Table Mountain, both outdoor activities. Being outdoors is an added bonus as that always makes me feel good. Walking under trees feeds my soul so I completely get the Japanese concept of forest bathing to relax and de-stress.

Last year my mountain and forest walks helped me clarify my values, and this year my increasing croquet skills have given me a new level of confidence which has spilled over into other areas of my life.

So don’t think your hobbies are not important. They improve your well-being, increase your happiness, and add values and skills to your life that spill over into work and relationships.
